Basic Principles for Joining K9 Rescue-Me
All K9 Rescue-Me participants must adhere to some basic guidelines of animal rescue.
The basic principle for your group must be to find unwanted, abused or otherwise
homeless animals permanent loving homes. Your group must have a spay/neuter policy
in place. We do not accept groups who breed animals or otherwise work with animals as
a source of profit. The primary use of member fundraising must be for necessary vet
care, fostering, rescuing, rehabilitation and re-homing of animals in their care.
Member Benefits
As a participating member of K9 Rescue Me you are invited to participate in all of the
successful fundraising activities that we coordinate.
These include: A booth at the Rescue Village at Woofstock, held this year on Saturday
June 7th & Sunday June 8t at Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence Market. K9 Rescue Me
will secure a booth for your rescue at no cost to you. We will also arrange table, chair
and tent rental at a modest fee to you through Woofstock.
You are invited to participate in the K9 Rescue Me walk-a-thon, often the largest
fundraiser for participating rescue groups. K9 Rescue Me will provide pledge forms for
your rescue and supply all walker prizes as outlined on the pledge forms. K9 Rescue Me
takes a modest 10% holdback on all pledges earned by your groups to cover the cost of
all of the prizes earned by your walkers. Please note: This fee only covers the cost of the pledge prizes, which have a value of approximately 10% of the pledges earned.
K9 Rescue Me works directly with Woofstock to make sure this event is advantageous
to all participating rescues. We participate in media support for the event and invite all
member groups to be included.
We provide all overnight booth security at the event. We also secure all necessary
security and permits for the walk-a-thon.
Individual rescues are welcome to conduct their own raffle at their booth, to maintain the
reputation and standards of Rescue Me, we ask that you offer no more than 3 prizes with
a minimum value of $30 per prize pack (no food items can be available at any booth due
to health regulation – this applies to people and pet foods.) Anyone considering
conducting a raffle will need to forward their prize list and ticket pricing to us by May
1st for approval.
K9 Rescue Me offers all participating groups tax receipts for all pledges of $25 or more.
Since we are a registered non-profit group we will provide these to your pledgers at no
cost to you.
We also offer online pledging for all groups. Through our partner, CanadaHelps.org we
are able to offer an online pledging site, as well as the tools for supporters of your group
to create their own online pledging sites. For a modest fee of 3%, taken by CanadaHelps
at the time of pledging, you can reach out to all of your supporters and get online
donations. All donations get an emailed tax receipt instantaneously as soon as their
donation is received. Monthly donation programs are also available.
In order to fulfill our charitable non-profit status mandate all monies raised will be held
in trust by K9 Rescue Me. Groups are required to submit receipts for vet care, boarding
and all other expenses related to your rescue mandate. We will immediately reimburse
you, or in some cases pay the provider directly, from the funds we are holding for you.
We do not pay gas, food and other sundry expenses.
K9 Rescue Me mails out all tax receipts for pledges not received online by the end of the
calendar year in which the pledges were received. We will be offering exposure on the
new soon-to-be-launched website for all groups.
You are invited to participate in the K9 Rescue Me annual calendar. We organize photos
shoots for dogs throughout the year for all interested rescue groups. These photos are
used to create a professional high quality calendar available to your group at cost to resell
at a profit. For groups who are able to sell 200 calendars or more K9 Rescue ME
will organize a breed specific calendar for your breed only at the same cost. We will also organize these calendar photo days for you.
We are also available to assist you in your fundraising efforts in any way we can.
Member commitments
Membership in K9 Rescue Me is free. K9 Rescue Me is run by all of our volunteers
working together to increase all of our fundraising efforts. As such, we require minimum
commitments from all participating groups.
