In 2004 k9 Rescue Me was started by Hilda Kelly & Jennifer Ego in Honour of the great joy that two Boxers – Oscar & Tallie brought to the lives of their owners. Unfortunately Oscar has left us too soon, but his memory will live on every year as we walk in support of K9 Rescue in Ontario.
A note from Hilda:
For those of you that didn't know, Oscar my beloved Boxer was diagnosed with cancer on April 2, 2008. We tried to fight but unfortunately, the cancer won in the end. My boy crossed over Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 3:45pm.
People joked we were joined at the hip. We did share a very special bond and were extremely close. We could communicate with each other on a level I haven't been able to achieve with any of my animals, past or present. We helped each other through hard times and enjoyed many, many fun times. There wasn't a day that passed that he couldn't put a smile on my face with his crazy antics.
Oscar was the light of my life. He was my protector. He was my wiggle bum. He was my friend. He was my dog.
God speed Oscar. I'll meet you at the bridge.

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are grey
You'll never know dear
How much I love you
Please don't take
My sunshine away
It was peaceful
Signed,
A girl and her dog
Sweet Rest and Godpseed Relay

I Will Never Forget You, You were my friend
And you were my jokester With your distinguished look
You had me hooked
For none other Did I like to mother
Beside me in my arms
Because of your charms
You changed my life
When you came in my life You gave me your all
And we had a ball
You were rambunctious To the point of being audacious
But we could see in your stride
That you had a lot of pride
I will miss you dearly
That I know clearly
But I'll never forget
That you were my pet
One of these days
Under the Rainbow's rays
We'll meet once more
And be split no more
Till then my dear friend
My heart has to mend
Until I transcend
